CAREY MULLIGAN AS HEDONE | ARMIE HAMMER AS HERCULES
“You’re the best girlfriend in the world,” he said devoutly.
She scoffed and said in a teasing way, “I’m the only girlfriend you’ve ever had. You don’t have much of a frame of reference.”
“Even so, I’m pretty sure it was my lucky day when you agreed to a date.”
“Hercules, just shut up and kiss me.”
He did, and didn’t do too bad of a job at it, either. It was impressive how much he’d improved in such a short time, from uncertain fumbling to the kind of kissing that made her brain short circuit in a wave of that feels amazing, just like that. He may not be one for book smarts, but when it came to the practical skills he was a fast learner.FROM THE BRAINS AND THE BRAWN.

He finds himself just staring at her sometimes. Still just a bit stunned that she’s his girlfriend. That they’re together. That she even exists. It’s not just that she’s a goddess - literally.
He decides it’s everything that takes his breath away. Her sharpness and the subtle angles of her kindness. Her way with words and her way with her hands. That she sees something worthy in him, despite his pratfalls and social clumsiness and inability to hold onto words. The way she hardly hesitates, her confidence and courage. The clothes she wears, her favorite brand of coffee, her total refusal to watch any film that features Tom Cruise.
She’s a woman who is more than a woman, who has walked the earth - and above it - for centuries, and has looked upon humanity with a measuring and unflinching eye. Hedone has seen everything man is capable of, all of his majesty and cruelty. And yet, sometimes, she looks at him with astonishment, and laughs with unbridled surprise. It’s an overwhelming sensation; she makes him feel brand new. Important. And she has the loveliest neck he’s ever seen.
Sometimes he wishes that he was better with words, so he could write a lovely poem about the curve leading to her shoulder. Instead, he has to settle for tracing it with his fingertips, and the delight in her smile as her skin goosebumps.
